Hallie Todd has been an actress for over 25 years. She is
especially well known to television viewers for her role as Jo McGuire,
Lizzie's mom on the hit series Lizzie McGuire, a role she reprised
for The Lizzie McGuire Movie. Her first major role was opposite Ann-Margret
in the Emmy-winning movie Who Will Love My Children? That success
was soon followed by The Check Is in the Mail, with Ann Archer and
Brian Dennehy, and Sam's Son, written and directed by Michael Landon
and starring Eli Wallach and Ann Jackson.
Not long
after, Hallie starred in Showtime's groundbreaking comedy series
Brothers, which depicted television's first openly gay leading
characters, and for which she earned two Cable ACE nominations for Best
Actress in a Comedy Series for her portrayal of Penny Waters, a role she
played for five years. Born in Los Angeles, Hallie is the daughter of actress Ann Morgan Guilbert and producer/writer George Eckstein. In 1998, she and her husband Glenn Withrow founded In House Media, a full service media and actors’ training facility in Burbank, CA, out of which developed what has become Hallie Todd Studios, now located in Sherman Oaks, CA. Her studio and classes have gained national recognition, and have been featured on ABC Primetime, and in the Los Angeles Times and the New York Times Sunday Magazine. She recently authored two books for young actors and their parents - Being Young Actors and Parenting The Young Actor. She is currently in
post-production on the full-length feature film,
The Mooring, which she co-wrote and co-starred in,
along with ten students from her Hallie Todd Studios classes. |
